PRP Hair Treatment | PRP Hair Treatment Cost

There are three main types of cells in our blood namely, Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells and Platelets. PRP is a reservoir of various growth factors released from platelets that stimulate tissue recovery and healing by increasing blood flow and cytokines release. These growth factors are also responsible for stimulating and enhancing hair follicle function. It is a permanent therapy and permanent solution for hair loss.

Skinos provides the best PRP treatment in Delhi. Here the cost of PRP treatment is very affordable and provide consistent satisfactory results.

What is PRP?

PRP is a reservoir of essential growth factors, PRP is typically a concentration of platelet growth factors which can stimulate the hair follicle cells and promote hair growth both in men and women.

How does PRP work?

PRP therapy is rich in various growth factors
These molecules bring about the following effects -

  1. Stimulation of the hair follicular stem cells to convert from their dormant state to an active state
  2. Stimulation of the growth of blood vessels around the hair follicles

These physiological effects help in reducing hair fall, increasing the thickness of the hair and promoting hair growth.

Who is a good candidate for PRP treatment?

Anyone with excessive hair fall, hair thinning or reduced hair density can undergo PRP hair loss treatment. It is especially very useful and a proven treatment option in cases of patterned hair loss, both in males and females. However PRP result vary from patient to patient. PRP helps in hair restoration of natural hair by reviving miniaturised hair and preventing the worsening of hair loss.

How is PRP Prepared?
  1. Step 1: About 8 ml of blood sample is drawn from the hand.
  2. Step 2: The withdrawn sample is transferred to PRP tube.
  3. Step 3: The PRP Sample Tube is put in the centrifugation machine and set for rotation to 3500 rpm for 10 min.
  4. Step 4: The final sample obtained after centrifugation contains all the growth factors derived from patients own blood.
How is the procedure done?

Approximately 8 ml of your blood sample is withdrawn in a vial. It is placed in a centrifugation machine. This is machine that spins around very quickly, causing the blood components to separate. The separation process takes around 10 minutes.

The PRP is separated into a syringe and is used as therapy for hair loss.

Typically, 4 ml - 5 ml of injectable PRP is considered as the optimum volume for injecting into the scalp.

The PRP Procedure

  1. The area where hair volume has to be restored is marked out.
  2. The marked area on your head is anaesthetised using a local anaesthesia.
  3. A disinfectant is applied on the area which is to be treated.
  4. The PRP is injected into the dermis and subcutaneous layers of your scalp.
  5. The site is then cleaned thoroughly.
How much time does it take for each session?

PRP treatment is a quick procedure taking just 30-40 minutes. Withdrawn blood sample is centrifuged to obtain the concentrate of growth factors which takes about 20 min. Rest of the time is spent for performing the procedure.

What should I expect during the recovery period?

There is no downtime after a PRP procedure. You can get back to your routine activities immediately after the procedure.

How many sessions are required for best results?

On an average, 6-8 treatment sessions done 1-1.5 months apart are sufficient to give desired results. PRP is not only effective in male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness but is also and used along with hair transplant.

Are there any risks or side effects?

PRP is virtually an “organic” treatment as your own blood is being processed and injected back into your body. So there are no chances of any adverse effects.

However, one may experience mild temporary effects due the injections per se, which may include slight tenderness and soreness, minimal pain, and pinpoint bleeding in the areas where injections were delivered. You may also experience a feeling of ‘tightness’ on your scalp for a day after the procedure. A few patients also complain of a headache for a day post the procedure.

What are the advantages of PRP procedure?

The advantages of PRP treatment for hair include:

  1. Minimal after effects limited to slight pain for 1-2 days.
  2. Very less recovery time. One can resume their daily routine immediately post procedure.
  3. Minimally invasive procedure requiring only the injections.
  4. The treatment process is quick and is usually over within 30 mins to 45 mins.
Are the results permanent?

A full round of PRP hair treatment (which can consist of 6-8 sessions) can make your hair thick, increase hair growth, and arrest hair loss for sometime. The results can be enhanced and maintained by regular use of anti hair loss serums provided by the doctor.

Is PRP hair treatment permanent solution?

Yes PRP provides permanent result. However it is never a stand alone treatment and must always be followed with medical treatment as advised by the Hair Specialist Doctor.

What is PRP Hair treatment Success Rate?

PRP ha shown 80% to 90% success rate in treating Androgenetic Alopecia. Please note that the success of the treatment is not dependent upon the treatment alone but also on the doctor as before starting the treatment right diagnosis of the cause of hair loss has to be made because PRP is not recommended in all types of hair loss.

It is always advisable that you verify that the treating doctor has a dermatology degree and a licensed Skin Specialist. Dr. Shruti Gupta received an award for the her thesis in PRP for treatment of male pattern hair loss by IADVL in 2014!
